The Ranch Program

The Sunnybrook Ranch is a beautiful 200-acre tract of land located in Madison County just a few miles from the main campus. Our award-winning ranch program is directed by Timothy R. Waldrop who oversees every aspect of ranch operations. Registered cattle are raised to provide show calves for 4-H Club members. Children are taught vital skills through the raising and showing of cattle that will benefit them throughout their lives. Through the years, the Sunnybrook children have won a host of awards in this program, but the real prizes are the responsibility, teamwork, showmanship, leadership skills and sense of accomplishment they take away from this program.

Sunnybrook Ranch has a rich legacy with kids and show cattle. This longstanding program continues today in the spirit of years-gone-by. Kids are privileged to enjoy exercise in the great outdoors that seems to elude them in the high-tech environment of the 21st century.

There are certain life lessons that are only learned through the love and care of an animal. Many children's lives have been revolutionized by the Ranch Program. Mucking stalls, measuring feed, slinging hay, bathing the animal and preparing for intense competition teaches a work ethic like no other. Many kids enter our Sunnybrook Family with their trust shattered. Working with an animal helps rebuild that trust, produce patience and foster specific learning skills that will enhance their performance in future occupations.
