A Message from Alonzo Welch, Cofounder

They said it couldn't be done—not in Mississippi. With God's help, willing hearts, faithful supporters and the generosity that makes Mississippi the most charitable state in the nation, it was accomplished. Sunnybrook Children's Home opened its doors of ministry in 1964. Though a new century has dawned, the need remains unchanged. Homeless children need a safe and loving home. Sunnybrook's program of child development continues to change lives today.

As a nonagenarian, I have been privileged to serve Sunnybrook Children's Home in many capacities over a span of forty-eight years. I began as a Cofounder, and have held the positions of Board Member, Executive Director, Fundraiser and Minister just to name a few; but the title I most cherish is "Brother Welch."

Like the tiny oak trees planted more than 35 years ago that now provide vast canopies of shade across our campus, so the children have spread their influence for good wherever they have gone.

Sunnybrook Children's Home has such a rich heritage, an ongoing, dynamic ministry and a future that is limitless as we continue to make a difference one child at a time.
